Deanna Sims joined The Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas as vice president of Development this week.
Mrs. Sims joined the organization after 13 years at the University of Texas in Tyler. She was serving as chairwoman-elect of the Boys & Girls Club when approached by the organization about the position.
“(Mrs.) Sims will bring years of experience in philanthropy to an organization that is refocusing its mission and energy to impact the city of Tyler,” according to the news release. “Her skill set and involvement with the community will prove invaluable to the growth and development of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas.”
The organization had grown more important to Mrs. Sims personally since she joined the board, she said.
“The Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas has grown in my heart over the last few years from a great cause to what has become God’s calling on my life,” she said. I am honored to join (executive director) Kevin East’s team to shine a light on this transformational ministry to our community’s children.”
