A Palestine man was arrested early Thursday morning for manufacturing crack cocaine.Around 6:30 a.m., officials from the Palestine Police Department executed a search warrant for a duplex in the 1200 block of North Tennessee Street, according to a news release from the department.Investigators believe a 31-year-old man living in the duplex was manufacturing and delivering crack cocaine and marijuana. Evidence was seized during the early morning raid, the release states.The man was arrested and charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, penalty group 1. The first-degree felony carries a sentence of between five and 99 years in jail and a fine not to exceed $10,000. He was also charged with possession of marijuana in a drug free zone, a class B misdemeanor. "This is another great day in the City of Palestine, when we can effectively remove drugs from our streets and put those in jail who use (or) sell illegal drugs," Police Chief Robert Herbert said in the release. "I thank the officers who were committed to making this a safe community to live and work."The Palestine Police Department’s SWAT team, drug enforcement unit, administrators, criminal investigation unit and patrol officers executed the search warrant with Texas Department of Corrections K9 units.The man’s name was not released, pending his arraignment and setting of bail, according to the news release.
