Tyler police officers were called to a home Saturday night after receiving reports of a stabbing.

Officers responded to the home in the 700 block of West Harmony Street at 6:35 p.m. after 911 operators received a call that a woman had been stabbed.

Once at the home, officers found a woman identified as Tommie Lynn Shackleford with two stab wounds to the head and ear, according to Tyler police.

The suspect, identified as Vanessa Carr, was still at the home and was quickly detained without incident.

Investigators determined that an argument had broken out between the two women, who happened to be neighbors, which then escalated into violence.

Shackleford was taken to East Texas Medical Center and then flown to Dallas for further care, according to police.

Carr was taken to the Smith County Jail where she was booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and tampering with evidence. She is currently awaiting arraignment.
