A Rusk man remained in the Cherokee County Jail on Monday morning, accused of sexual assault at a nursing home.
Earnest Palmer, 61, is charged with aggravated sexual assault of a disabled individual, a first-degree felony, according to the Rusk Police Department. His bond was set at $250,000.
Rusk Police Chief Jamie Campbell said the charge stems from an incident that occurred at The Arbors Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.
Campbell did not elaborate on the details of the incident, except to say that Palmer was an employee and was arrested earlier this month in an incident that involved a female.
Steve Winfield, administrator at The Arbors, said in an e-mail that Palmer is not actively working at the center at this time.
The next step, Campbell said, will be to present paperwork to the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office.
