Nine children were injured Wednesday in an accident involving two school buses.

Rebecca Berkley, public information officer with East Texas Medical Center, said nine Athens ISD elementary children, with ages ranging from 5 to 10, were admitted into the Athens facility, 2000 South Palestine St. She said none of the children have life-threating injuries with bumps, bruises and some fractures.

The collision occurred between buses 13 and 14, according to the district's Facebook page.

Sixty children were taken to the hospital's emergency room by another bus for evaluations, she said.

Any parent who believes their child was taken to the hospital is asked to bring a form of identification to the hospital to pick up their child.
