A Tyler home was heavily damaged after a Thursday evening fire.
Tyler Fire Department District Chief Tim McCawley said crews were called to 632 North Confederate Ave. in northwest Tyler around 7:30 p.m.
McCawley said the home was on fire when they arrived, with the center of the fire in the kitchen area. He said the fire destroyed the north portion of the home and heavily damaged the attic. There was also heavy smoke damage.
No one was injured in the blaze, and the home was insured.
Five fire engines were called to the blaze from Stations 1, 4, 5, 6 and 7, McCawley said.
Fire Marshall Tony Gumber said insulation in the attic was made out of newspaper, which is making it more difficult to put it completely out.
