Peltier Subaru is hosting a weeks-long “Dog Days of Summer” event to celebrate its grand opening in Tyler.
The dealership, at 3200 SSW Loop 323, is hosting two fundraising events that will benefit Pets Fur People and the SPCA of East Texas.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, dog washes will be free to everyone in the community during the Pets Fur People Dog Wash-a-thon. Peltier Subaru will donate $25 for every dog washed, up to $10,000, representatives said. Personnel from the shelter and Peltier’s dealerships will scrub the dogs, and a check will be presented to Pets Fur People Executive Director Gayle Helms.
Cruisin’ for Canines is set Sept. 14 to 21, and will benefit the SPCA of East Texas. Peltier Subaru will sponsor $1 for each mile one of their Subaru vehicles is taken on a test drive and will present the check to Deborah Dobbs, president of SPCA of East Texas. The funds will be used to help build their new animal shelter.
The company also will provide a dog tagging machine to provide free tags during the “Dog Days of Summer” event.
Peltier Subaru is dog-friendly, representatives said. There is a dog park at the facility, as well as a dog bed and water bowl in the showroom. Customers are encouraged to bring their dogs, which are welcome on test drives.
“What’s important to our customers is important to us. We are dog people,” Mike Terry, general manager of Peltier Subaru, said.
Subaru recently announced a partnership with the Center for Pet Safety to develop a standard for pet safety crash tests and pet restraints.
