Smith County Commissioner Cary Nix announced this morning he will seek a second term representing Precinct 2.
Nix, a Republican, is a fourth-generation rose grower and has served on the board of directors for the Tyler Rose Museum and as the president of the Texas Rose Research Foundation.
He's a member of First Baptist Church of Whitehouse and serves as a deacon. Nix is a lifelong resident of Smith County. He's been married for 30 years to his wife, Sharon. They have two sons and a granddaughter. He graduated from Whitehouse High School and attended Tyler Junior College and Stephen F. Austin State University.
