The award-winning Robert E. Lee Red Raider Marching Band took its music to the streets of Tyler Saturday morning during the third annual march-a-thon. The band marched from 8 a.m. to noon in the neighborhoods near Chili’s and Colonial Hills Baptist Church.
The band accepted pledges per mile, as well as flat donations, both prior to the event and on the spot. Last year, they raised about $20,000, and expect to raise $25,000 this year. The money will help pay for the band’s expenses, including funds for a spring trip, a banquet and the competitive marching season.
Yard concerts were available for a donation of at least $100.
Videographer Brandon Frisby produced the report.
