Although the Texas Rose Festival has plenty to offer, it is not the only thing going on. Here are five other things worth checking out.

HAGGARD AND JONES

Haggard and Jones, a music show featuring Noel and Ben Haggard, sons of Merle Haggard, and Georgette Jones, daughter of George Jones and Tammy Wynette, takes place 7 p.m. Thursday at Liberty Hall, 103 E. Erwin St. The singers pay tribute to their s parents. Tickets are available at liberttyler.com.

OPEN HOUSE AT THE GOODMAN

The historic Goodman-Legrand House & Museum, 624 N. Broadway Ave., will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Guided tours will take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. and speakers will give presentations at noon and 2 p.m.

HOT PEPPER FESTIVAL

Downtown Palestine will be busy during the Hot Pepper Festival on Saturday. Activities begin at 10 a.m. with a parade. Look for vendors, entertainment, activities for children and the popular Hot Pepper Eating Contest at 1 p.m.

EAST TEXAS YAMBOREE

The East Texas Yamboree continues through Sunday in Gilmer. The annual celebration includes parades, a downtown carnival, livestock shows, competitions, music and the Crowning of Queen Yam. For a schedule, go to yamboree.com.

PINEY WOODS OPEN DISC GOLF

Disc golfers from throughout the region will be at Lindsey Park, 12557 Spur 364 West, on Saturday and Sunday to compete in the Professional Disc Golf Association’s Piney Woods Open tournament. Admission is free for spectators.
