The Tyler Junior College Jazz Ensembles are gearing up for their annual, action-packed “Bandapalooza,” set 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Wise Auditorium on the TJC main campus.

Admission is free.

“In short, it’s our band students unleashed,” said Heather Mensch, TJC professor of jazz studies. “We’ll also have singing, choreography, lights and lots of up-tempo music for everyone.”

The program includes selections from jazz legends Count Basie, Sammy Nestico, Lou Marini and popular acts including Stevie Wonder, Earth Wind & Fire, Average White Band, Tower of Power and more.

Special guest artists include local jazz virtuoso George Faber and the Touch of Gold, the auxiliary and twirling line for the Apache Band.

The TJC Band Program is celebrating its 70th anniversary year. For more on the band program and its various performing ensembles, go to www.tjc.edu/band .
