Special to the Tyler Paper
For more than 45 years, Edom has hosted a festival for its working artists and others to present their creations. Over the years, Edom Art Festival has become a premier art show.
This year, the festival will take place 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 14 and 15. Admission is free. Art, fine crafts, live music and food will fill the grounds behind artists’ studios along Farm-to-Market Road 279 in Van Zandt County
The juried show includes painting, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, weaving, clothing, blown glass and handmade stringed instruments. Artists will demonstrate the crafts of pottery, blacksmithing and raku firing.
On the Red Stage, Texas singer/songwriters will entertain in an acoustic setting. Guests also often find musicians playing under shade trees.
Food vendors will have funnel cakes, corndogs, pulled pork tacos, shrimp and catfish po’boys, roasted corn, hand-cranked ice cream and sorbet and homemade root beer. A wine garden will feature selections from area vineyards.
Children can play and create treasures in the children’s art area.
Patrons are encouraged to also visit the artists’ studios and enjoy local restaurants and attractions.
