Well, Virginia, you can’t deny that the children of the Tyler area still like to kick it old-school when it comes to letters for Santa.
Last month, the Tyler Morning Telegraph announced that it would help deliver letters to Santa and print them in the Dec. 22 newspaper.
However, the newspaper got overwhelmed with Santa letters, so much so that we’ve decided to start running them Wednesday!
The Tyler Morning Telegraph has a long-standing tradition of handling letters to Santa. Historically, newspapers always have sided with the Man in Red.
“Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus… He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy,” wrote Francis Church, of the New York Sun in 1897.
That was in reply to Virginia O’Hanlon, who was told by her father, “If you see it in The Sun, it’s so.”
And certainly the children of Tyler believe!
