Nelda Stanley will present “Hummingbirds and Butterflies” May 6 in the IDEA Garden to kick off the 2014 First Tuesday in the Garden series, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension service announced.

Ms. Stanley has been a Smith County Master Gardener since 2011. Her interest in gardening was inspired by her mother and two aunts when she was 17. She uses this interest in her landscaping projects and encourages hummingbirds to nest in her garden.

First Tuesday in the Garden is a monthly educational program sponsored by Smith County Master Gardeners. It will be on the first Tuesday of each month through June in the IDEA Garden on the southeast corner of the Tyler Rose Garden. In the event of inclement weather, it will be moved inside the Tyler Rose Garden Center.
