Community fest, holiday bazaar among upcoming faith-based events around East Texas

New Days Community Church, 901 N. Broadway Ave. in Tyler, will have a Community Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event will include free food, a mechanical bull ride, estate planning, ETMC health and wellness, Texas Workforce Commission, car showcase, face painting, credit and mortgage counseling, UT Health Northeast, Bethesda Health Clinic, mariachi band, Tyler police and fire rescue. First United Methodist Church, 225 Lovers Lane in Athens, will continue its annual Holiday Bazaar from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. The bazaar will feature fall and Christmas decorations, fabric items, jewelry and floral arrangements. Baked goods also will be sold, and there will be a prize drawing.


Bethlehem First Baptist Church, 1121 W. Lollar St. in Tyler, will celebrate its 151st anniversary at 10:50 a.m. Sunday. The public is invited. The Rev. Ray Charles Wren is pastor.


St. James Missionary Baptist Church will have its 2017 Musicians Appreciation Service at 3 p.m. Sunday. Refreshments will be served. The public is invited.


Tyler First Assembly of God, 5309 Rhones Quarter Road in Tyler, will celebrate its 100th anniversary in several ways. A dinner is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday, followed by speaker Rick DuBose at 7 p.m. Attendees must RSVP in advance. Call 903-597-9804 to reserve a spot. Jeff and Sheri Easter are scheduled to perform in concert at 6 p.m. Nov. 18. Adam Crabb is scheduled to perform in concert on Nov. 19. A reception will follow. Both concerts are free.


The Salvation Army is in need of the following items for its food pantry- canned tuna, canned chicken, cornmeal, bags of pinto beans, peanut butter, cereal, canned pears, canned peaches, elbow macaroni, tomato sauce and ramen noodles. Donations can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 633 N. Broadway Ave. in Tyler.
