Chapman to perform at World Without Orphans Gala

The World Without Orphans Gala will present an evening with contemporary Christian artist Steven Curtis Chapman at 6 p.m. Friday at the Green Acres CrossWalk Conference Center. Visit for tickets or sponsorship information. The gala will celebrate the work done by Serving Orphans Worldwide to support orphan care and promote adoption.


New Bethel Baptist Church in Flint will have its “Spiritual Warfare in the Life of a Christian” Prayer Summit from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Speakers will include prophetess Suzie Scott and minister N’Ericka Carter.


The men’s department at Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive, in Tyler, Texas, will have a Men’s Ministerial Program at 10 a.m. Sunday on the church campus. Doug Anderson, formerly with Signature Sound Quartet, will perform at Westwood Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Sunday. No tickets are needed. However, a love offering will be taken at the end of the service.


The International ALERT Academy chorus of Big Sandy will perform at Holly Brook Baptist Church, 3219 S. Farm-to-Market Road 2869, in Hawkins at 6 p.m. Sunday. The chorus has performed in a wide variety of settings from local venues to the White House. A fellowship will immediately follow the free concert. The Triumphant Quartet is scheduled to perform in concert at 7 p.m. Nov. 10 at Central Baptist Church, 116 W. Mt. Vernon St. in Mabank. Call 903-477-8084 to purchase tickets. They also will be available at the door while supplies last.


First United Methodist Church, 225 Lovers Lane in Athens, will have its annual Holiday Bazaar from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11. The bazaar will feature fall and Christmas decorations, fabric items, jewelry and floral arrangements. Baked goods also will be sold, and there will be a drawing.


New Days Community Church, 901 N. Broadway Ave., Tyler will have a Community Fest from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 11. The event will include free food, a mechanical bull ride, estate planning, ETMC health and wellness, Texas Workforce Commission, car showcase, face painting, credit and mortgage counseling, UT Health Northeast, Bethesda Health Clinic, mariachi band, Tyler police and fire rescue. The Salvation Army is in need of the following items for its food pantry: canned tuna, canned chicken, cornmeal, bags of pinto beans, peanut butter, cereal, canned pears, canned peaches, elbow macaroni, tomato sauce and ramen noodles. Donations can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at 633 N. Broadway Ave. in Tyler.
