Missions conference, moms event among upcoming faith-based events

The Kilgore Police Department is accepting applications for its upcoming Clergy and Police Alliance Academy, Sept. 21 through Nov. 16. Applications are available at the police department, 909 N. Kilgore St., or online at www.kilgorepolice.com . Deadline to apply is Sept. 15. The academy will meet from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays. Calvary Commission will celebrate its 40th Anniversary at its annual Breakthrough Prayer and Missions Conference through Monday at its World Commission Center, 15983 County Road 4140, in Lindale. There is no cost for registration or attendance. Daily sessions are scheduled for 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. For registration information, call 903-882-5501 or visit www.calvarycommission.org . Child care is available and there will be a special Kids Konference each night through Saturday. Beginning at 2 p.m. Monday, there will be a special Labor Day Bar-B-Que Blast. Activities include games, musical and drama presentations, carnival, fishing tournament and lots of barbecue served at 4 p.m. The Labor Day blast cost is $15 per family or $5 per person.



Christ Community Church, 5625 N. Loop 256 in Palestine will have Revival Services with Bro. David Borg from Jimmy Swaggart Ministries Friday through Sept. 10. The Friday service will begin at 7 p.m.; the Sept. 9 service at 10 a.m.; and the Sept. 10 service at 7 p.m. Borg will minister in each of the services and the regular 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Central Baptist Church of Mabank, 116 W. Mount Vernon St., will present its Second Annual Women’s Conference from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 9. The theme will be “Seeing the Unseen: The Eyes of God in the Mind of Man.” The goal is for attendees to learn how to see their lives with the eyes of God. Admission is free and lunch will be provided. The event will include music, door prizes, guest speakers and an afternoon breakout session. Attendees are asked to register in advance so organizers can have a lunch count. Anyone may call and register, or the group leader may turn in the number of attendees and the church’s name. Holly Brook Baptist Church, 3219 S. Farm-to-Market Road 2869, in Hawkins will start two seven-week women’s Bible studies in September. The Wednesday study from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. will cover Priscilla Shirer’s “The Armor of God,” and starts Sept. 13. Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive, in Tyler will have a National Back to Church Sunday service at 10 a.m. Sept. 17. A Community Outreach/Fellowship dinner will follow the service. Community Christian Fellowship, 15704 Texas Hwy 110 N., Lindale, will kick off the 2017-2018 year of Moms Inc. on Sept. 19. The theme, “A Year of Blessing,” comes from a Bible-based curriculum, which is designed to help a mom’s journey to experience a life of blessing more fully. The regular meetings are scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month and include time for fellowship, study and potluck brunch. Registration, which includes several child-care options, is required and found at Moms Inc. CCFlindale.org. There’s a $10 “Early Bird” registration discount until Sunday. Sight.org will have Sight Night “The Joy of Sight” from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 at Callynth Photography Studio in Tyler. Tickets go for a $5 minimum donation. The event will include local art, live music and food. All proceeds will benefit the work of Sight.org to restore sight to the blind in Togo, Africa.
