Revival, Vacation Bible School among upcoming faith-based events around East Texas

REVIVAL

The 20th Annual East Texas Baptist Campmeeting “Revival” is scheduled for July 17-21 at the Civic Center in Canton, Texas. This Campmeeting/Revival Meeting is one of the largest annual, weeklong religious gatherings in East Texas with an average attendance of 1,000 each night. The nonprofit meeting is free and open to the public. Services will start at 7 p.m. Monday-Friday, with special events daily, including a golf tournament and picnic and a Wednesday morning service from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Nationally known Southern Gospel and Bluegrass groups are scheduled to perform at each service. There will be one speaker each evening with the Wednesday morning session featuring sermons from young preachers and a revival sermon by Dr. Russell Rogers. A free-will love offering will be received to cover the costs of the event. BLOOD DRIVE & CPR TRAINING

Carter BloodCare will have a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at Community Christian Fellowship, 15704 Texas Highway 110 N. in Lindale. The blood drive will take place on the south side of the main building. In addition, the church will offer a basic first aid, CPR and AED class that leads to certification from 6 to 9 p.m. July 26. FAITH CONFERENCE

Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive, in Tyler, will present its 2017 Faith Conference at 7 p.m. July 13 and 14 on the church campus. Evangelist Madeline Kennedy is the scheduled guest speaker and Sister JuWanda Allen will serve as the featured guest psalmist. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1723 E. Front St. in Tyler, will have Vacation Bible School from 6 to 8:30 p.m. July 20 and 21 and 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 22 for children 4 years old through completed fifth grade. GOSPEL QUARTET

The Southern Plainsmen Quartet is scheduled to perform at Sunrise Assembly of God, 4339 Farm-to-Market Road 315 South in Chandler, at 6 p.m. July 23. It is a free concert though a love offering will be accepted.

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Camp Out VBS at Pleasant Retreat United Methodist Church, 417 County Road 1143, in Tyler is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 29. Lunch will be provided. The day will include team-building games, Bible-based songs, and multisensory Bible adventures. Some of the activities might be a bit messy so children should come in play clothes and sturdy shoes. Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to join at 10 a.m. July 30 for a dramatic, campfire-style celebration of God’s love. WOMEN’S MISSIONARY SUNDAY

The Christian Women's Council of Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive, in Tyler, will have a Women’s Missionary Sunday program at 10 a.m. July 30 on the church campus. SIGHT NIGHT

Sight.org will have Sight Night “The Joy of Sight” from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 3 at Callynth Photography Studio in Tyler. Tickets go for a $5 minimum donation. The event will include local art, live music and food. All proceeds will benefit the work of Sight.org to restore sight to the blind in Togo, Africa.
