Pentecost party, healing service among upcoming faith-based events

HANDBELL ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM

The auditioned community handbell ensemble Cast of Bronze will perform in concert at First Christian Church – Tyler, 4202 S. Broadway Ave., at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 3. The performance is free and open to the public. The ensemble performs on 331 handbells and chimes including: 7 1/2 octaves of American-made Schulmerich handbells, 6 octaves of Malmark Choir Chimes, 5 octaves of English-made Whitechapel handbells, 3 octaves of Dutch-made Petit and Fritsen handbells, 3 octaves of BoomWhackers and 2.5 octaves of DeskSet bells, and two octaves of R.H. Mayland handbells manufactured in the 1880s. After the concert, audience members will be invited to come and ring bells or chimes and ask questions of the ringers and director.

HOPEWELL CEMETERY MEMORIAL SERVICE

Hopewell Cemetery Association will have its annual memorial meeting on Sunday at Swan Baptist Church. Worship services will begin at 10:45 a.m. followed by the association business meeting. After that, guests will enjoy a covered dish lunch in the Fellowship Building. The cemetery is maintained through donations received from family and friends of people buried there. PENTECOST PARTY

Christ Church South, 15747 Old Jacksonville Highway, will have a communitywide Pentecost Party to celebrate the birth of the Church from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Sunday with a performance by Liturgical Folk and a food truck selling tacos. The food will be available starting at 5:30 p.m. followed by music at 6:30 p.m.

HEALING SERVICE

WARRIOR PEER GROUP

Lone Star - Warrior - Church, 604 W. Fourth St., in Tyler will have a Warrior Peer Group at 11 a.m. Thursdays. The group is designed for veterans and first responders who want a safe place to openly discuss the realities of what they have seen through their service. BLOCK PARTY

Faith Baptist Church, 405 S. Hart St. in Quitman, invites the community to attend the Faith Outside the Walls End of School Year Block Party from 6 to 8 p.m. June 9 in the church parking lot. The free event will include activities such as a cakewalk, bounce house, silent auction and petting zoo. New cars and trucks as well as classic vehicles will be on display. In addition, vehicles and personnel from the Quitman Police and Volunteer Fire Department, the Wood County Sheriff’s Department and an ambulance from East Texas Medical Center will be at the party. Free food and drinks will be served, and door prizes will be awarded during the two hours of celebration.

DEAN BAPTIST

Dean Baptist Church, 11567 County Road 1141 in Tyler, will celebrate its 145th anniversary on June 11. Sunday school is scheduled for 10 a.m. followed by worship at 11 a.m. Former staff and members are encouraged to attend. Bob Sexton is the interim pastor. Call 903-849-4198 for more information.

The members of Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive in Tyler, are requesting donations from the public to update the church nursery. Gently used or new nursery items will be accepted. KID’S CRUSADE

Christ Community Church, 5625 N. Loop 256 in Palestine, will have a Kid’s Crusade for children ages 4 and up June 23 to 25. Youth and adults are welcome to attend. There is no registration fee, but an offering will be received in each service. Pastor Mike Muzzerall and team from Brother Jimmy Swaggart Ministries in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, are scheduled to speak. Service times include: 6:30 p.m. June 23; 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. June 24; and 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 25. ONE NATION UNDER GOD RALLY

The Grace Fellowship Church of Flint is planning a “One Nation Under God” rally from 3 to 5 p.m. June 25 at the T.B. Butler Fountain Plaza in downtown Tyler.
