Dorothy Harder will celebrate her 104th birthday from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at Wesley House, 13923 Farm-to-Market Road 2710, in Lindale, family members announced.
Mrs. Harder was born in Bridgeport, Conn., and raised in Illinois, but eventually moved to San Jose, California, where she spent 45 years. After suffering an accident, she came to Texas to be with her daughter and son-in-law, living in Hideaway for the past nine years.
While in California, Dorothy was an avid bowler, belonging to three leagues. She was also an avid swimmer, winning a Senior Olympic medal for her back dive.
Throughout her life, she loved children and taught a Sunday school class while she was in California. She also taught numerous children how to swim.
