Rubye A. Putnam, of Brierwood Bay on Lake Palestine, celebrated her 100th birthday with her family and friends at a party at her home Thursday.

The festivities were hosted by her sons, James and wife Rita, and Gene and wife Jean.

Mrs. Putnam was Feb. 20, 1914, in Clyde. She married Julian I Putnam while living in Clyde and they had two children, James and Gene. They moved to Del Rio and lived there until her husband was transferred to El Paso with the Southern Pacific Railroad.

In 1980, after her husband retired from the railroad, they moved to Brierwood Bay, and since have enjoyed their summers in the mountains of Colorado, fishing on the lake and the activities of the Methodist Church and Red Hat Society.

Mrs. Putnam has four grandchildren.
