It’s a full house for the Duggar family, with 21 people all living under one roof. They are best known from their popular TLC program “19 Kids & Counting.” Jim Bob and his wife, Michelle, are also co-authors of two best-selling books.

The Duggars will speak at Green Acres Baptist Church in Tyler at 6 p.m. Sunday. The family will share their music and message about God’s heart for children, with a special emphasis on the fatherless. They will be at GABC to help promote National Orphan Sunday, which is held annually on the first Sunday of November.

“We are eager to communicate God’s heart for children. Today as we see more orphans worldwide as a result of war, famine, extreme poverty and natural disaster, we desire to encourage the Body of Christ to have God’s heart for children and to reach out to those most vulnerable and in need of a forever family,” Jim Bob said.

Despite being blessed with 19 biological children, they have a heart for the fatherless, and the reason is more than just Biblical. Michelle’s dad was in an orphanage from 4 to 12 years old.

“My dad told me he remembers The Salvation Army bringing each of the children in the home a little gift at Christmas. He said it was truly the only gift or the only toy they ever received ... and he said he’s never forgotten that.”

The Duggar family has also visited several orphanages in Central America and done ministry work there. They say they want to make a different in the life of those children and are open to what God may call them to do in the future.

“We have many friends who have adopted children and we are praying about that ourselves. We don’t know what the Lord’s will is either way yet,” Jim Bob said.

The Duggars are passionate to make Christ known to others.

“As parents, we all have to do what’s right and set the example for our children. … I pray that each person will just follow through and raise their children to love God and serve others.”

Join the entire Duggar family Sunday in the GABC Worship Center. They will stay after the service to sign their latest book, “A Love That Multiplies.”
