PHOTO CONTEST

On Sunday, June 25, the Main Bank lobby of Texas Bank and Trust in Longview will be filled with photographs for the bank’s 35th Annual Photography Reception and Awards Presentation. The reception will be held from 2 to 3:30 p.m., with the awards ceremony beginning at 2:30 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded to winning photographers in five categories - Fine Art, Human Interest, Landscape, Nature, and Cool Kids.

Winning photographs will appear in the Texas Bank and Trust 2018 Collector’s Calendar. For additional information, please contact Lori Osborne at 903-237-5583.

HR SOCIETY

The Rose City Society of Human Resource Management will meet on Thursday, June 22 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Rose Heights Church. The meeting this month will feature a round table discussion of Human Resource concerns. Sellers-Patterson Insurance will sponsor the event. You can purchase a ticket for the event on Eventbrite. Lunch is included in the ticket price.

NEW PRESIDENT

Habitat for Humanity of Smith County is pleased to announce that the organization’s CEO, Jack Wilson, has been named President of the Habitat Texas Board of Directors. Habitat Texas is a nonprofit legislative organization that advocates for affordable housing issues in Austin and provides non-financial support and training for the 81 Habitat affiliates throughout the state. Mr. Wilson has served on the board of Habitat Texas for the past three years and most recently served as Vice President of Governance.

JOB TRAINING

RedZone Coil Tubing LLC has partnered with Kilgore College to provide job training using a $233,262 Skills Development Fund grant from the Texas Workforce Commission. The grant will benefit workers in the Permian Basin and East Texas areas.

NEW CPA

Prothro, Wilhelmi and Company has announced that Lisa C. Ward, an employee of the firm since January 2014, recently received her CPA Certification. She graduated from Texas State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in 2009 and then completed her Master of Accountancy degree at the University of Texas at Tyler in December 2014.

TRAINING

Mitch Erwin, HR/Safety Administrator for East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, was accepted into the Effective Supervision Training Program through National Industries for the Blind. Erwin is one of 19 participants coming from 17 NIB Associated Agencies across the United States.
