MAKER: You at The Crop Spot in Tyler
BACKGROUND: Jana Glosson opened The Crop Spot in 2011 to sell scrapbooking materials and offer customers a place to make their craft. She holds classes, teaching techniques for scrapbooking and card making. She can also make a scrapbook for customers with their pictures.
CHANGES: Ms. Glosson recently made changes to what her business offers.
“The Crop Spot is so much more than just a scrapbooking store,” she said, adding that she has moved into a bigger variety of classes and products.
Ms. Glosson offers altered art and mixed media classes, which allow people to learn how to play with paint, canvases, stencils, stamps and many mixed media products.
“It is an entirely different world from scrapbooking,” she said.
The Crop Spot now has the capability to set up booths and can travel to bring a small store or teach classes for people at retreats or parties. She had a booth at three scrapbooking shows last year and set up a booth at Pine Cove in January.
The Crop Spot held its first Art Retreat Friday and Saturday, where people made three projects and learned how to use a variety of mixed-media products.
