BACKGROUND: George Gregory, an Indiana native, founded ABL Services Inc. in 1979 in Tyler. The company received a patent for a device it says requires less maintenance but significantly outlasts similar parts made by its competitors. The pieces are relatively small compared to the enormous machines used to extract coal, copper and phosphate from the earth, but individually the parts weigh hundreds of pounds, even tons, requiring cranes to move them, Gregory said earlier.
