Wood-fired pizza restaurant taking over Carino's space

Joshua Evola, of Waxahachie, is renovating the former Carino’s Italian Grill to turn it into Tuscan Slice Wood-Fired Pizza and Italian Bistro.

Work to the 6,625-square-foot building, at 1725 WSW Loop 323, includes adding a pizza oven, building a counter and installing a gas-burning fireplace on the front of the building for $45,000. Evola Brothers LLC, doing business as Tuscan Slice, is the contractor.

Freebirds World Burrito is renovating the 2,432-square-foot former Case Ole space, at 5105 S. Broadway Ave., for $280,000. Work includes new walls and finishes, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and installing equipment. Tavis Tock Freebirds LLC, of Austin, is the owner.



Fresenius Medical Care, of Memphis, Tenn., is finishing out the interior of a new 5,700-square-foot shell building for medical offices at 3824 Troup Highway. Young Contracting, of Atlanta, is the contractor for the $545,000 project.

Shelby Burkett is constructing a 4,349-square-foot building for her store, Mary V’s, at 7264 Old Jacksonville Highway. Thornton Design & Construction is the contractor for the $540,000 project.

Schambach Ministries International, of Flint, is constructing 4,990-square-foot Building 3 at Broadway Hills Plaza, at 7925 S. Broadway Ave. Kessinger Development Group is the contractor for the $448,750 project.

R2 Restaurants Inc., of Shreveport, La., is adding a slab to the rear of the new Taco Bell building to move a cooler out from its existing location, at 3808 S. Broadway Ave. Chris Gardner Construction, of Haughton, La., is the contractor for the $41,000 project.



Erin Evans, of Missouri-based Evans United Shows Inc., filed a transient vendor application for carnival rides, games and food at the parking lot of Broadway Square Mall, at 4601 S. Broadway Ave., from April 17 to 27.



A sign permit was filed by Tuscan Slice, 1725 WSW Loop 323, $1,200, Joshua Evola. Design Center Signs filed permits for The Grand Piano Bar & Supper Club, 5526 Old Jacksonville, $5,630; Tru-Tan, 1400 WSW Loop 323, Suite 90, $1,044; Barrett Appliances, 5625 S. Broadway, $6,275; and PFS, 115 Jordan Plaza Blvd., $1,518.

A commercial temporary power permit was filed for a fitness center at 3219 SSW Loop 323.



There were nine building permits for new home construction filed.

Trent Williams Construction Management is building a 6,525-square-foot home at 4366 Lazy Creek for $597,482.

Dr. Ifafore Adebola is constructing a 5,700-square-foot house at 2065 Equestrian Lane for $550,000. Pack Construction is the contractor.

Hadaxut Kahn is building a 5,046-square-foot home at 7730 Cross Road for $500,000. Bayless Custom Homes is the contractor.

Freddie and Kim Sanchez are constructing a 5,070-sqiare-foot home at 1414 Covewood Drive for $475,400. Mike Pardue Homes Inc. is the contractor.

Bill and Panarai Lyons are building a 4,573-sqiare-foot house at 4595 Cascades Blvd. for $420,000. Bayless/Rummels is the contractor.

Duane and Rae Champagne are constructing a 3,860-square-foot house at 6986 Park Slope for $350,000. Starr Capital Investments Ltd. is the contractor.

Juan and Connie Vo are building a 3,818-square-foot home at 6934 Saint Anthony Drive for $285,000. David Lowe Homes is the contractor.

Wayne McIntyre is constructing a 3,828-quare-foot house at 772 Hampton Hill for $190,000. McIntyre Plumbing Inc. is the contractor.

Casey Homes is constructing a 2,514-square-foot house at 5830 Thompson Place for $145,000.

Luis Rivera is repairing a roof damaged by tree/storm at 2812 Tanglewood for $16,894. Specialty Restoration of Texas is the contractor.

Rick Fedwell filed for approval for construction at Lake Tyler to add on to a boathouse at 14079 W. Peninsula Road in Whitehouse.

Charlie Crum filed for approval for construction at Lake Tyler to build a three-stall boathouse with covered sitting, storage and sundeck at 13547 Peninsula Road.

Juana Vega is finishing an old permit at 710 N. Della for $5,000. Work includes an A/C unit, plumbing and electrical.

Leonardo Garcia is inserting concrete segmented pilings to stabilize a wall at 1935 Balsam Gap for $2,800.

A-Z Construction is replacing a door for Kathryn Smith at 6200 Wilshire Drive for $522; and a door for Rebecca Daws at 6724 Sharbrooke Drive for $584.

Habitat for Humanity of Smith County filed a grading permit for 1600 N. Spring.

Joe and Virginia Lessert filed a grading permit for 1301 Hermitage Court.

Driveway permits were filed by Francis Concrete for 6980 Canal and 2025 Equestrian Trail; and by Martin Martinez for 4359 Lazy Creek.

There also was an application for residential temporary electrical service, six duct testing reports and 14 HVAC permits filed.
