Capital murder defendant James Calvert's appearance in court this morning was short-lived, after he filed a motion to recuse 241st District Judge Jack Skeen Jr., from the case.

Calvert is accused of killing his ex-wife, 30-year-old Jelena Radobanovic Sriraman, in October 2012 and kidnapping the couple's 4-year-old son before being apprehended in Monroe, La.

Skeen said in the court this morning that he had no choice but to forward Calvert's motion to recuse Skeen to Dallas, where Judge Mary Murphy will decide whether to grant the motion or deny it.
