Two suffer gunshot wounds in early-morning Palestine shooting

PALESTINE - Two men are begin treated at this hour for gunshot wounds following an early morning shooting in Palestine.

Lt. James Muniz of the Palestine Police Department said the shooting occurred this morning about 5:45 in the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Blvd.

When officers arrived they observed two male subjects laying in the street with apparent gunshot wounds. The victims reported that the offense occurred at a nearby residence.

"Officers were able to call out to the residents at the suspected location and were able to have them come out of the house without incident," he said.

Muniz said the two victims were transported via EMS to Palestine Regional Hospital, but then transferred to Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler.

One male subject was arrested at the scene,  and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
