Heines, Warren have big leads in Tyler city races

Martin Heines was handily leading Joel Rando in the race for Tyler’s new mayor, according to early voting totals.

Heines had 1,917 votes, or 91.6 percent, while Rando had 177 votes, or 8.5 percent.

The winner will replace longtime Mayor Barbara Bass, who could not seek re-election due to term limitations.

Meanwhile, in the race for District 4 on the Tyler City Council, Don Warren had 271 votes, or 61.2 percent, while his opponent Eleno Licea had 172 votes, or 38.8 percent.
