Tyler police continue their investigation into a stabbing that left one man hospitalized after he was stabbed in the neck.

Don Martin, Tyler Police public information officer, said officers were dispatched to Mother Frances Hospital Saturday about 8:20 p.m. Saturday in reference to a man suffering a stab wound.

Martin said when officers arrived they found 33-year-old Ramiro Gonzalez of Tyler, in the hospital with a stab wound to the neck.

"The detectives are still sorting all of this out, but it appears the victim was drinking with some others when one of the people stabbed him with a pocket knife," he said.

Martin said Gonzalez said he did not know the man's full name who attacked him. Police believe the incident occured in the 1500 block of East Oakwood between 5 and 6 p.m. Saturday.

Martin said Gonzalez has since been released from the hospital.

Anyone with information about the assault is asked to contact the Tyler Police Department at 903-531-1000 or the Tyler/Smith County Crimestoppers at 903-597-2833.
