A man whom authorities were trying to find last night in the Lindale area has been captured today after he was seen attempting to break into a FBI agent's home.

Smith County Precinct 5 Constable Ken Bibby said the man, whose name has not been released, is in custody and talking with Lindale police.

Police began searching for the man after he stole several items from the Lindale Walmart, stole a vehicle, crashed into another motorist  and fled into the woods on foot.

Authorities called off the search shortly before midnight.

Bibby said this morning a resident called, saying the man was trying to gain entry in a shed on an FBI agent's property.

"Before officers could get there, he had left the scene, but they saw him running nearby and took him into custody. He made a statement that he knew we were looking for him and that he spent a cold night out in the woods," he said.

Tyler Paper will continue following this story and post additional details as they become available.
