Man charged with capital murder in late Saturday slaying in Tyler

A capital murder warrant has been obtained and served on John Grimes IV, 25, in the murder of Tony Jeter overnight, according to Tyler Police.

Grimes was booked into the Smith County Jail and is being held on a $1 million dollar bond.

At 11:09 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a homicide at 502 E. Bow St, in Tyler. Jeter, 65, was found inside the residence, dead from an apparent knife wound. Additional details will be posted as they become available.
