Two armed men stormed into a local convenience store and robbed a clerk of money from the register before fleeing the scene, Smith County Sheriff officials say.

John Moore, the agency's public information officer, said the incident happened about 5:48 a.m. today at the Valero Minute Stop located at 11874 Texas Highway 64 west.

Moore said the clerk told deputies that two white men in their 20s entered the store wearing black hoodies, dark jeans and black cloths over their faces.

Moore said the men produced a gun and demanded money from the clerk and took an undetermined amount of money.

Moore said the men are believed to have left the area in an older white, four-door model Nissan Maxima. They were last seen traveling east on 64 toward Tyler.
