A second suspect has been arrested in conjunction with an early morning storage building burglary.Â
John Moore of the Smith County Sheriff's Office said at approximately 12:45 p.m., the sheriff's office took a second suspect into custody in a wooded area near The Reserves subdivision, located off of East Side Road near Lake Tyler East.
This morning at approximately 6:05 a.m., the Smith County Sheriffâ€™s Office Dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress at the Chapel Hill Storage facility located on FM3226 northeast of Chapel Hill.
Multiple Sheriffâ€™s units responded to this call. Upon arrival of the first two units, they observed a white male entering a white Dodge pickup, which was parked at the rear of the storage facility. The individual fled the scene in the Dodge truck. A pursuit ensued for several miles resulting in the Dodge pickup crashing in a subdivision off of East Side Road.
A perimeter was established with multiple Sheriffâ€™s Office units, a Sheriffâ€™s Office K9 unit and Department of Public Safety Troopers. The suspect was apprehended at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the location of the crash. The suspect currently faces charges of Burglary of a Building, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, and possibly others. He is being interviewed by Sheriffâ€™s Office Detectives at this time.
