Body found in Cherokee County identified; cause of death is gunshot

New Summerfield Police Department today received confirmation from the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas that the body discovered earlier this week near Recklaw was that of Javier Jimenez.

Jimenez was positively identified utilizing finger prints on file. The Medical Examiner listed the cause of death as homicide due to gunshot wound.

On July 29, a 2001 Ford pick-up was reported abandoned on a parcel of land in rural Cherokee County near Reklaw. The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and located a body, now identified as Jimenez, in the bed of the truck.
