UPDATE: Man arrested for burglary, fleeing arrest in Chapel Hill area

A second suspect has been arrested in conjunction with an early morning storage building burglary. 

John Moore of the Smith County Sheriff's Office said at approximately 12:45 p.m., the sheriff's office took a second suspect into custody in a wooded area near The Reserves subdivision, located off of East Side Road near Lake Tyler East.



This morning at approximately 6:05 a.m., the Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress at the Chapel Hill Storage facility located on FM3226 northeast of Chapel Hill.

Multiple Sheriff’s units responded to this call. Upon arrival of the first two units, they observed a white male entering a white Dodge pickup, which was parked at the rear of the storage facility. The individual fled the scene in the Dodge truck. A pursuit ensued for several miles resulting in the Dodge pickup crashing in a subdivision off of East Side Road.

A perimeter was established with multiple Sheriff’s Office units, a Sheriff’s Office K9 unit and Department of Public Safety Troopers. The suspect was apprehended at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the location of the crash. The suspect currently faces charges of Burglary of a Building, Evading in a Motor Vehicle, and possibly others. He is being interviewed by Sheriff’s Office Detectives at this time.
