Law enforcement helicopters which have been helping in the search for a armed thief in Lindale have landed temporarily due to wintry weather conditions in that town.

Earlier this morning, a man jumped into a pickup truck which was in traffic in the 300 block of South Street in Lindale and attempted to carjack the vehicle at gunpoint.

Police say the truck driver was headed to a bank with money to make a bank deposit.

The driver of the truck fought back, and sustained an injury in that exchange when he was hit in the head with the gun. The robber lost both shoes as he fled the vehicle with the bag that was going to be deposited into the bank.

Police say the man is armed and still on the loose somewhere in the vicinity of South Street in Lindale.
