Editor’s Note: Whitley is the production coordinator for film’s Tyler shoot.

The independent feature film “Daylight’s End” is using Tyler as one of the final locations in filming for the production and is accepting submissions for the roles of “creature” extras and film crew interns.

Filming is set to take place in Tyler Monday through Wednesday.

“Daylight’s End” director William Kaufman said he is pleased with the support he is receiving.

“We’ve been very grateful for the support and hospitality that Smith County and the city of Tyler has shown us and we see a great area with a lot of potential for future films,” he said. “We hope this is the start of a great relationship for film in East Texas as it can provide jobs and experience for those looking to get into the film industry.”

Kaufman’s credits include “The Hitlist,” “Sinners and Saints” and “One in the Chamber.”

Extras need to be in good physical shape and with no health problems, as these roles require running in the heat. Interns and extras must at least 18 years old or at least 16 with parental consent. Interns will assist the film crew’s departments on set.

Those who are interested, should send an email to stating which position (intern or extra) they are seeking along with a recent headshot. Applicants must include their name, contact information, age, availability and make reference in the email that it is for the Tyler location.

The set will be closed to the public and only those who had submitted an application via email will be considered for work.

Staff Reports

A movie production company about to film in Tyler needs extras and interns, said James Whitley, the Tyler location production coordinator.

Location filming of “Daylight’s End” by director William Kaufman will take place in the Tyler area July 21-23.

“We’re in need of local actors (men and women) for extras as creatures for the film,” Whitley said. “The extras need to be fit as there will be a lot of running and a lot of time in the heat.”

The production also needs volunteers to serve as crew interns.

Those who are interested should send an email to and state that the email is in reference to the Tyler location.

Whitley said people also should attach a recent headshot and their contact information.
