A Theater Near You

Here’s what’s new this week:

“MAN OF STEEL”

What’s it about? How would the real world react if someone like Superman showed up? This fresh take on Superman’s origin examines just that question.

Will it be good? This is probably my most-anticipated film of the summer. It looks epic, in a way that no Superman movie ever has. The scale of the action looks amazing and yet it also seems to be going for a more personal side, too. Looks great.

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence, action and destruction, and for some language.

“THIS IS THE END”

What’s it about? Seth Rogen, James Franco and all their buddies try to survive the apocalypse.

Will it be good? Rogen, Franco and all their buddies play themselves here (although a bit exaggerated), in a film that is aimed straight at making fun of their personas and personalities. Advance word is very positive, assuming R-rated comedies are your bag.

Rated R for crude and sexual content throughout, brief graphic nudity, pervasive language, drug use and some violence.
