Lake Country Playhouse in Mineola is staging Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical, “South Pacific.”
Based on James Michener’s Pulitzer Prize winning novel “Tales of the South Pacific,” the show features the songs “I’m Gonna Wash That Man Right Outa My Hair,” “There Is Nothin’ Like a Dame” and “Some Enchanted Evening.”
Brett Murphy is the director and is one of two people playing French planter Emile de Becque. The cast also includes Lanette Garza and Gina Phelps, who share the role of Nellie Forbush, Steven Dotson who also plays de Becque and Rodney Mize as Marine Lt. Joseph Cable. Mize is chorus master and Randy Powell leads the pit ensemble. Performances are set for today through Sunday and July 31 through Aug. 3 in Select Theater, 114 N. Johnson St. Curtain times are 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
