Fireworks are part of the tradition of celebrating our country’s independence. In East Texas dozens of fireworks shows along with other patriotic-themed events are on tap

 

 

TODAY

 

Athens

Blues artist Bobby Blackmon gives a free concert 2 to 5 p.m. on the Henderson County Courthouse lawn.

The Fishery: Freshwater Fishery/Athens presents a free Fourth of July event beginning at 5 p.m. that ends with fireworks.

 

Ben Wheeler

Ben Wheeler celebrates at 5 p.m. with live music, a fireworks show in Pickin’ Porch Park and a 9:30 p.m. showing of “The Wizard of Oz” at the Forge’s Backyard Pavilion.

 

Edom

The Freedom Celebration event takes place in Community Park beginning at 7 p.m.

 

 

Gun Barrel City

The July Fest celebration today and Saturday includes a carnival, live music and special events.

The fireworks show takes place on Saturday night.

 

Henderson

In Henderson, a fireworks show takes place at Lake Forest Park.

 

Jacksonville

The annual fireworks show over Lake Jacksonville begins at dark.

 

Lindale

The Faith, Family & Freedom Independence Day Celebration is set from 4 to 9 p.m. at 17141 Texas Highway 110 North.

 

Longview

The city of Longview’s 4th of July Fireworks and Freedom Celebration takes place at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Complex beginning at 10 a.m.

Activities include amusement rides, a hot dog eating contest, food, beverages, entertainment and a concert.

 

Mineola

Entertainment and special events at Mineola Civic Center will end with a fireworks show.

 

Nacogdoches

Nacogdoches Freedom Fest and Fireworks celebration begins at 5 p.m. at Festival Plaza.

 

Palestine

In Palestine, the city presents a fireworks show in Steven Bennett.

 

Pittsburg

City of Pittsburg’s Independence Day Blast and Fireworks begins at 8:30 p.m. at the high school.

 

Quitman

Quitman Arboretum and Botanical Gardens presents its celebration with events beginning at 10 a.m.

 

Tyler

Tyler Civic Chorale presents a free concert at 4 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church, 230 W. Rusk St. The chorale will be joined by other singers to form a mass choir that will sing holiday favorites.

Willow Brook Country Club and Hollytree Country Club will shoot off fireworks at dark.

Independence Day Celebration at Meadow Lake senior living community, 16044 County Road 165. includes a parade at 8:30 a.m. followed by a patriotic program

The Knollwood subdivision of Old Jacksonville Highway in Gresham holds a parade at 9 a.m.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 13590 Texas Highway 110 south of Tyler, presents its Fireworks Spectacular beginning at 6:30 p.m.

 

Winona

Winona First Baptist Church sponsors events and a fireworks show beginning at 7 p.m. at the high school baseball complex.

 

 

SATURDAY

 

Tyler

City of Tyler’s free Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks Show takes place at Lindsey Park beginning at 6 p.m.

Gather on the shores of Lake Tyler to watch the fireworks shot off over the lake from the Petroleum Club.

 

Whitehouse

Independence in the Park begins at 10 a.m. in City Park and will include a barbecue cookoff, car show, live entertainment and fireworks.
