LSO season wraps up with Russian composers' music

Longview Symphony will end its season Saturday night with “Russian Romantics,” a concert featuring classical music from Russian composers.

The concert is set for 7:30 p.m. in LeTourneau University’s Belcher Center. The Opening Notes program, which provides information about the concert, will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The orchestra will be led by Dr. Tonu Kalam, its conductor emeritus.

The program includes Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony in D major;

Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini, Op. 43 featuring pianist Clara Yang; Borodin’s In the Steppes of Central Asia; and Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, Fantasy Overture, according to information posted by the orchestra.

Tickets cost $30 or $40, depending on seating. Student tickets cost $10. Tickets can be purchased online at belchercenter.com or by calling the center’s box office, 903-233-3080.
