I am ready, are you? Ready for what you ask? SPRING! The lakes are full and the flowers are blooming and East Texas is the place to be in the spring and summer. If you’re like me, you’ve grown a bit tired of this bi-polar weather we have been having and are ready for some warmer days and fast. We wear shorts on Friday and then everything we own on Monday, but that’s Texas weather now, isn’t it?

I’m going to make a bold prediction and say that we are done with cold fronts and will have a steady warming trend beginning today. So get out the mowers and weed eaters and let’s get started on spring already. Polish up the golf clubs, restring the fishing poles, uncover the boats and jet skis and let’s start the season rocking.

Go out to Rick’s or Jake’s downtown and listen to some great live music. Attend first Monday in Canton or visit one of the many lakes in the area. It’s time we all started getting in the “spring” of things and celebrate all that is East Texas.

Have you been to the Rose Garden? How about our great zoo? I believe both are world class and should be enjoyed as much as possible, especially this time of year. Tyler and the surrounding areas have some amazing things that we all take for granted and if we would pause for a moment to realize it, we all might be surprised. Now, I know gas is expensive, but what a great time of year to just take a drive around the area. Stop at your favorite local restaurant and pack up a to-go special and drive down to Love’s Look Out off of Highway 69 and enjoy the view for a while. We take the dogs and some Dickey’s BBQ and make an afternoon of it.

I believe Tyler and East Texas offers something for everybody and I hope to see some of you out and about at your favorite venue or event in the coming weeks. Now for me, it’s time to get the golf clubs shined up and head for the golf course. See you soon.
